Will KL Rahul Join RCB for IPL 2025? LSG Star's Viral Three-Word Response

KL Rahul's animated conversation with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjeev Goenka during an IPL 2024 match has sparked speculation about his future with the franchise. Despite Goenka's recent statement that Rahul is like family, the possibility of the player's departure remains, particularly with a mega auction approaching before the next IPL season. Among the teams rumoured to be interested, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) could be a potential new home for the star batter.

For those who may not know, Rahul has a history with RCB, having played for the team for four seasons between 2013 and 2016. Recently, Rahul engaged with an RCB fan in a viral video. When the fan brought up the rumours linking him back to his former team, Rahul acknowledged being aware of the speculation and responded with, "Let's hope so."

Last month, Goenka discussed his relationship with Rahul during Zaheer Khan's introduction as their team mentor.

"I've been meeting with KL regularly over the past three years, so I'm surprised that this meeting garnered so much attention," Goenka told reporters. "As I’ve mentioned, we haven’t made any decisions yet as we’re waiting for the retention rules to be announced. But KL has been a crucial part of the LSG family since its inception. He’s played a significant role and is like family to us," he added.

When asked about player retention and captaincy, Goenka said they are still awaiting the BCCI's release of retention rules.

"We have all of September, October, and November to make these decisions. We need to see the policies before we decide on the team structure or retention numbers, as we currently have no clue," Goenka said.
