Virat Kohli Undergoes Scans for Unspecified Injury Ahead of Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Report
Virat Kohli, a crucial player for India in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, recently underwent scans for a mystery injury, with the exact nature of the issue yet to be confirmed. According to a report from the Sydney Morning Herald on Friday, Kohli had the scans on Thursday, but details regarding the injury remain unclear.
Despite this, Kohli participated in the intra-squad match at WACA Stadium in Perth on Friday, scoring 15 runs before being dismissed at second slip.
Though the injury is uncertain, Kohli’s participation in the match shows his determination to be fit for the upcoming series. He will be key for India in the five-match Test series against Australia, with the team led by Rohit Sharma.
Kohli’s Form and Career in Australia
The 36-year-old right-handed batter has had a challenging run recently, with a relatively low return of 93 runs across three matches in the most recent series against New Zealand. Nevertheless, former India head coach Ravi Shastri remains confident in Kohli’s ability to perform in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
“The king is back in his territory,” Shastri remarked during the ICC Review show. “When you've earned that title after your exploits in Australia, it will be on your opponent’s mind when you step out to bat.”
Kohli’s Legacy in Australia
Kohli's journey in Australia began in the 2011-12 tour, and he has since accumulated 1,352 runs across 13 matches on Australian soil. His first Test century came in Adelaide in 2012, with a score of 116 runs. In the 2014-15 tour, Kohli further solidified his record, scoring four centuries, including two at Adelaide Oval.
