New Zealand's star pacer and former captain Tim Southee has announced that the upcoming three-Test series against England, beginning on November 28, will be his last in Test cricket. The final match of the series, to be held in Hamilton, will mark his farewell from the longest format. Southee, who has had a prolific career, played 104 Tests, scoring 2,185 runs and taking 385 wickets. He also has impressive records in ODIs and T20s, making him one of New Zealand’s most versatile players.

Southee's Career Highlights and Records:

Versatile All-Rounder: Known not only for his bowling but also for his valuable contributions with the bat, Southee holds the record as the second-fastest batsman (2,418 balls) to score over 2,000 runs in Test cricket, after England’s Ben Duckett.

Big Hitter: Southee ranks sixth for most sixes in Test cricket, with 93 sixes. His highest individual Test score is 77 not out.

Second-Highest Wicket-Taker for New Zealand: With 385 Test wickets, he trails only Richard Hadlee (431) and has the opportunity to reach 400 wickets in his final series.

Unique Batting Achievement: In a Test match against India, Southee scored 65 runs after India’s first innings ended at 46—only the second instance where a batsman scored more runs than the opponent's entire innings after batting at nine or lower.

Reflecting on his career, Southee expressed gratitude for representing New Zealand and acknowledged the significance of his final match taking place against England, the team he debuted against. His contributions to New Zealand cricket will leave a lasting legacy, both as a bowler and a dynamic lower-order batsman.
