The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which is eager to have India play the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, will not try to convince India and leave it to the ICC to convince the BCCI.

According to sources from PCB, the budget for conducting the event was finalised by ICC in a recent meeting held in Colombo. But the ICC is yet to determine the schedule and format of the event.

Insider sources from the PCB indicate that the board has submitted the details regarding the format, schedule, budget, and venue selection of the event. The Pakistan Cricket Board also announced that all matches involving India, including the semi-final and final, will take place in Lahore.

The ICC granted Pakistan the rights to host the Champions Trophy in 2022 after the country expressed interest in holding the event in 2021.

The governing body of cricket still needs to confirm with the BCCI the Indian team’s participation in the event.

As India is yet to confirm their participation in the cricket event, the ICC has included a supplementary budget to cover the expenses in case the Men in Blue need to play games outside Pakistan.

In the 2023 Asia Cup, held jointly by Sri Lanka and Pakistan, India played all its matches in Sri Lanka, including the final.

The match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan is scheduled for March 1, 2025. The Champions Trophy event is scheduled to start fromFebruary 19, 2025, in Pakistan.
