KL Rahul to Miss IPL 2025 Opening Matches for Delhi Capitals Due to Family Commitment

KL Rahul, the wicketkeeper-batter for Delhi Capitals, will miss the first two matches of IPL 2025 as he stays with his wife, Athiya Shetty, who is expecting their first child. Rahul has opted to be with his family during this special time, and as a result, he will be absent for the opening games of the season.

Bought for ₹14 crore in the 2025 IPL mega auction, Rahul was expected to play a crucial role for Delhi Capitals. However, his absence will be a significant loss, especially after he rejected the captaincy offer. Rahul, who previously played for Lucknow Super Giants, was part of their 2024 campaign but failed to lead the team to the playoffs.

This will be Rahul's debut season with Delhi Capitals. He has scored 4,683 runs in 132 IPL matches, with four centuries and 37 half-centuries.

Delhi Capitals will travel to Visakhapatnam for their first two matches, with a short training camp scheduled in Delhi before the trip.
