Is the Champions Trophy Facing Cancellation? Will ICC Make a Crucial Decision?
Champions Trophy 2025 Update
Internet Desk: The Champions Trophy 2025 is set to take place in Pakistan next year. However, recent developments suggest that the ICC may consider canceling or postponing the tournament, although no official announcement has been made yet.
India has already made it clear that it will not be sending its team to Pakistan, which has complicated the scheduling of Team India’s matches. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) remains firm in its stance that the tournament will proceed in Pakistan as planned. Reportedly, some in ICC circles believe canceling the event might be preferable due to these scheduling challenges. With the 100-day countdown already underway, the ICC is reportedly exploring options to either cancel or postpone the tournament. Cricket sources indicate that the ICC may lean toward this decision, given the BCCI’s position against sending the Indian team to Pakistan.
"India Will Not Travel to Pakistan"
The schedule for the Champions Trophy 2025 has not yet been finalized. “We are in contact with the host country and all participating teams. Discussions regarding the schedule are ongoing, and an official announcement will be made once a decision is reached. If scheduling proves unfeasible, there remains a possibility of canceling or postponing the tournament," said ICC sources.
The PCB has already submitted a draft schedule for hosting the Champions Trophy from February 19 to March 9 next year. However, there have been discussions about implementing a hybrid model for India's matches, which the PCB has not agreed to. This disagreement has further added to the uncertainty surrounding the tournament’s management and final scheduling.
