Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of the Indian cricket team and former BJP Member of Parliament, recently received a death threat from a group calling itself ISIS Kashmir. The threat came via email after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

The message simply read, “I Kill You.” Gambhir reported the threat to the Delhi Police and filed a formal complaint to ensure the safety of his family. He received two threatening emails on Tuesday — one in the afternoon and another in the evening. This isn’t the first time Gambhir has faced such threats; a similar one was sent to him in November 2021 when he was still an MP.

He had recently returned from a family vacation in France and has been keeping a low profile since India won the Champions Trophy in March. Gambhir, who became India’s head coach in July last year, had a rough start — with India losing several important series, including the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The situation was made worse when private team discussions were leaked to the media. However, India made a strong comeback by winning the Champions Trophy undefeated, beating New Zealand in the final. In response to the recent terror attack, Gambhir spoke out on social media, expressing his condolences and vowing that those responsible would face consequences.
