Internet Desk: The Australian cricketer David Warner, who recently announced that he will take back his Test retirement, has revealed the news of relief to the country's board. The Australian Cricket Board has decided to lift the 'captaincy' ban on him so far. In 2018, Warner was banned for 'lifetime leadership' in the wake of the sandpaper scandal. Warner has already appealed to have his ban lifted. A three-member review panel announced the decision unanimously. Warner, who has not captained the leagues with Australia so far, seems to have got an opportunity to act as the captain of the franchise team in the upcoming Big Bash League. He will lead the Sydney Thunders.

"David Warner has taken responsibility for his mistake. He asked for a review of Cricket Australia's decision. We have reviewed it completely. We have taken Warner's statement about the incident. Since facing the ban, his behavior and conduct has been very good. Not even once did sledging and incitement against the opposing team. With this, the review panel has good intentions on Warner. So we are lifting the ban on him," Cricket Australia revealed.

This is the story of the sandpaper scam

Steve Smith-led Aussies traveled to South Africa to play a four-Test series in 2018. The first two Tests were won by one and tied. Aussie player Bancroft was seen rubbing the ball in South Africa's second innings in the third Test. The opposing team accused him of hiding a piece of sandpaper-like cloth in his pocket. It was alleged that David Warner, who was the vice-captain, played a key role behind this and told Bancroft to do it. Speaking at the press conference after the match that day, Bancroft admitted that he had used sandpaper. Cricket Australia has removed Smith from the captaincy after conducting an investigation. Bancroft was banned. Cricket Australia has decided to impose a 'lifetime captaincy' ban on Warner, who is also the vice-captain.
