After Gautam Gambhir took over as the head coach, Team India has lost two consecutive Test series. As a result, the BCCI is considering restructuring the team. During the recent review meeting, it was suggested that several new regulations would be implemented. It is now reported that the BCCI has prepared a 10-point policy, with mandatory domestic cricket being one of the key aspects. The board has also emphasised the importance of maintaining fitness. The 10-point guidelines, which the BCCI plans to enforce, might include the following. Players who wish to make exceptions must seek prior approval. If they fail to do so and violate the rules, they could face bans from both national team matches and IPL games.
Endorsements: During a series tour, no player is allowed to engage in personal shootings or endorsements without BCCI's permission. This is to ensure that players remain focused on the matches.
Family Permits: If a series abroad lasts for more than 45 days, only two weeks will be allowed for family members to join the players. For shorter series, only one week will be allowed.
Travel Rules: Players must travel with the team for any series, not individually. This is intended to build camaraderie among players. Family travel will require prior approval.
Domestic Matches: Every cricketer must play domestic cricket to be eligible for selection to the national team. This rule applies to both young and senior players. However, exceptions can be made with valid reasons.
Personal Staff: No player is allowed to bring personal staff without BCCI's permission. If necessary, approval must be sought in advance.
Luggage Restrictions: In the past, players could carry unlimited luggage with BCCI covering the costs. Now, players will only be allowed a maximum of 150 kg of luggage. Any additional weight will need to be paid for by the players.
Post-Practice: After practice sessions, all players must travel together on the same bus.
Board Activities: All players must be available for BCCI meetings and events. This will help in the overall development of cricket and strengthen the relationship with the board.
Post-Series Travel: After a series or match, some players would leave the team immediately. Now, players must travel with the team and return together.
Room Sharing: Previously, star players were given personal rooms and could stay with their families. From now on, players will have to share rooms with their teammates. Special room accommodations will only be allowed when family members are present.
