Visakhapatnam: Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) unveiled a gleaming gold-plated trophy for the third edition of the Andhra Premier League (APL) here on Saturday.

The shorter version of cricket extravaganza will start at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium here on Sunday.

The trophy launching marked the kickoff for APL Season featuring six teams, 19 matches, and 120 players competing from June 30 to July 13.

The ceremony also saw the captains of all six teams – Bezawada Tigers, Uttarandhra Lions, Godavari Titans, Rayalaseema Kings, Vizag Warriors, and Coastal Raiders –proudly unveil their official jerseys. This event closely followed the launch of the tournament campaign, "Mana Andhra Mana APL," along with a captivating new logo and the final schedule of the tournament.

Expressing his happiness, ACA Secretary S.R. Gopinath Reddy emphasised the league's potential to revolutionise cricket within Andhra Pradesh.

"The APL transcends the realm of a mere tournament; it's a catalyst to cultivate the finest cricketing talent within our state," asserted Reddy during an interaction with the media.

"We are dedicated to empowering young players by providing them with a prestigious platform to showcase their skills on a national stage," he said and

highlighted the success stories of players like KS Bharat, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ricky Bhui and Shabnam Shakil, who have risen to prominence through their performances in the IPL. "Indeed, I am happy to say that the ACA has facilitated the emergence of new talent through Rising Stars trials, with seven players earning spots in the league," he added.

"We are immensely proud to be the first state in the nation to receive BCCI approval to host a premier league of the caliber of the APL," Reddy declared. The launch ceremony was graced by players and representatives from all six participating teams. Team owners and captains unanimously lauded the APL as a fantastic platform for young cricketers to gain valuable exposure and experience.

KS Bharat, Captain of Vizag Warriors stated that each team comprises a mix of seasoned players and budding talents, creating a perfect blend of experience and youth.

ACA has ensured that the league aligns with international standards, providing state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure.

All matches will be broadcast live on Star Sports Telugu, Star Sports First, and Fancode, ensuring a wide reach to cricket enthusiasts.
