Hyderabad emerged as the most sought-after city for travelers in India during 2023, according to a report by hospitality giant OYO. The city was followed closely by Bengaluru in terms of booking preferences. Uttar Pradesh claimed the top spot among states, surpassing Maharashtra in visitor numbers.

The travel industry experienced a distinctive year in 2023, signifying a potential return to normalcy after the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, as highlighted by Shreerang Godbole, Global Chief Service Officer at OYO. With the decline in remote working and increased inflexibility, travelers aimed to maximize their vacations and take advantage of extended long weekends. Despite this, the trend of exploring domestic destinations, influenced by the pandemic, continued to dominate. Notably, both leisure and business travel contributed significantly to the growth of the travel sector in India.
