The Delhi High Court criticised the AAP government for not providing textbooks, stationery, and other necessities to 2 lakh students in MCD schools. The court accused the government of prioritising personal interests over national interests.

They slammed the government for blaming the MCD commissioner for not seeking funds and accused them of being arrogant and only interested in power. The court was also critical of the government's excuse that approvals from the jailed CM Arvind Kejriwal couldn't be obtained.

The court noted that students have been without textbooks, notebooks, and uniforms since April, studying in inadequate conditions. They stressed on the importance of national interest. The legal ruling stated that the government seemed more concerned with power struggles.

The court questioned the government's priorities, pointing out broken desks and chairs in schools and asking if the mayor would want her own children to study in such conditions.

This criticism came during a Public Interest Litigation filed by NGO Social Jurist. The MCD commissioner, summoned earlier, blamed the absence of a standing committee for delays in providing essentials to schools.

The court expressed disappointment with the government's lack of action and empathy towards the students. Court verdict emphasised the need for leaders to consider the public welfare and not engage in power struggles.

Despite the government's excuses, the court vowed to take action to ensure the needs of the students are met. They highlighted stalled projects for distributing books and medicines and questioned the government's sincerity in addressing these issues.

The court scheduled further directions on April 29, urging the government to take immediate steps to improve the situation in MCD schools.
